Hi Phil,

Can you describe what you're using for your Wi-Fi network?  What model server, 
and protocol? (8.0211N or G, WPA or WEP encryptions, etc.)?   I don't have an 
iMac, and probably someone else will be able to answer this, but that's the 
kind of information that will help to troubleshoot.

I did read earlier in the year that some iMac users had a problem with an 
AirPort update (Apple's wireless network software) that produced the symptoms 
you described.  In some cases using the power button instead of pressing a key 
to wake from sleep (not reboot) worked for some people.
