Margaret,
The problem I was having on my Mac, is that my right command key will not
work for this or any other hotkey that uses command as a modifer. That was
the default setting on my Mac, and though I think that I know where to
change it, I have not. The right command key works as expected for
command-tab.

In order to copy text, try holding down the shift while using down arrow to
move to the bottom of the information you wish to copy. Then immediately,
try the left command key-C. The system should say "copy." At that point,
command-tab to the file, in which you wish to enter the copied text. Hit
left-command-v.

Let me know if this works, for you.
