Sarah, I agree that turning quick nav on and off should be tried first, as it only involves pressing left and right arrows. However, I have this problem often, and that simply does not fix the problem. As I wrote last week, Apple is tracking this problem, and welcomes feedback. It is not a keyboard issue, and it doesn't help to "forget" the BT connection and re-connect. Even turning off one keyboard, and turning on another does not help. It is a real pain to have to re-boot, especially while in the middle of a message, but, for me, that is all that will fix the problem, other than resorting to the virtual keyboard.
Have you actually had this problem, and had turning QN on/off work under IOS 8.3?
