Hello everybody

We have been asked this question a couple of times recently, so I thought I
would address it publicly now so that you all know where you stand.

The question is "Do we get access to updates when they are released for books
we have bought from Mac Access?" The answer to that question is yes, absolutely
and totally. You will be given access to all free updates to any of the Take
Control books which you have bought and to which you would ordinarily qualify
for updates. We here at Mac Access Dot Net pride ourselves on the services we
provide and we would not like anybody to get the idea, much less to spread it
around, that they get any less of a service than they would get were they to
have bought the books directly from the publishers.

Actually, at the moment we can offer something which the publishers themselves
cannot; accessibility to the VoiceOver user to your online bookshelf. Yes I
know that the chickens amongst you who haven't yet converted to browsing with
your mac, (just joking folks), wouldn't have noticed this yet because it
doesn't impact on Windows users. But there are major accessibility issues on
the TC site for VoiceOver. We have been and are still talking with the
publishers and their website administrators about those issues. Actually Adam
and Tonyua do not directly handle their website content; it's done by a third
party with whom they have an agreement. But that's another matter.

Here at Mac Access Dot Net, we are committed absolutely and totally to
providing our clients with a full-on service, not a half-baked one. So those of
you who doubt us, I can only try again to reassure you. We will honour the
agreement into which we entered when you bought books from us. I remind you
again, however, that Mac Access Dot Net does not gain in any way whatsoever
from offering this service; we do it at 0 profit. In fact, it's not unknown
that we do it at a loss; because if we don't meet our self-imposed high
standards, we pay to give you extra titles by way of compensation.

We are not under any obligation to do that, I might add, it is something which
is entirely at our discretion. However, those for whom we host other services
will, I hope, be able to tell you if asked how seriously we take our
commitments. So rest assured that, if you buy from us, you'll get what you pay
for. We've actually been asked on a couple of occasions who makes money out of
what we do. Some have even cast doubts upon our assertion that we do this at 0
profit. Well if you opt not to believe us based on the fact that others,
(possibly including yourself) may not do this, that is your right. But whether
others choose to believe us or not, it happens to be true.

You pay what we pay; not a dime more! take pride in that and it will always be
the case.

Lynne
