I should have added that you use the same installation procedure as previously described here. Highlight the file in your /Applications folder and bring up its context menu. Show the package contents, and navigate to the Macos folder. Find the Dropbox executable and run it. A Terminal window will open and not long afterwards so will the installer and it will be accessible enough to let you log into your account and define any advanced settings.
