Hi Annie, 

What problem are you having with it exactly? I've just tried it in TextEdit and 
it seems to work fine for me. It is case sensitive, so you'll need to be sure 
that your search is very exact. If you're searching for a name for instance, 
you'll need to ensure that you start your search with a Capital letter.

Personally though, I prefer to use the search function of whichever word 
processing application I'm using. If i remember correctly, in NWP for instance, 
the in-built search functions are far more powerful than generally supplied in 
other Word Processors. My Word Processor of choice though is Pages, and its 
search functions operate perfectly well for me, as do TextEdit's.
