Actually I disabled full screen mode and enabled the gobble shortcuts. cmd g 
works for me  except when I accidentally use vo keystrokes inside windows. then 
I need to suspend and vm and bring it back to life. Then and only then can  I 
use cmd g to get back to what ever I was doing.
