Just so folks know, for sighted folks there is an icon next to the text of the URL in Safari. If one drags this icon to the desktop it will create a URL quick launch for that URL>
I was able with a bit of jiggling to do this on Snow Leopard, but I would expect it is probably easier with Lion since there is VO access to drag and drop.
