Hello John

We applied the update about 10 days or so ago and I can tell you that the fan
performance in our Minis are far better. I don't know whether it applies to
earlier models; I would doubt it to be honest. But 3 of our servers are now
running mid 2011 IntelĀ® I7 2.0 GHZ quad core processor-based machines and all
of them has been very much affected by the update. As I said, the machines are
now running virtually cold and the fan performance is much much better. Instad
of running for periods of 10 to 15 minutes at high speed the machines are now
virtually silent all the time and the LED on the front doesn't flash like it
used too.

I'm not sure. I think it also had to do with the Thunderbolt displays, as
I believe the MBP and MBA also received firmware updates. However, I know it
did have to do with the heating for sure. Nevertheless, it's worth the update.
