I don't use the official Twitter client for the Mac. I use one that has a veyr long, unpronounceable name. YoruFukurou
I call it Night Owl, because eveyr one else seems to, but that long name is ow you find it in the app store. It is easy to use. You sign in with your Twitter credentials, authorize the app, and you're on your way. You can explore the menus and get keyboard shortcuts for just about everything.
