ep I did know this but had forgotten about it and its a most worthwhile tip.

Much of Mail and many other applications behave this way, for example if your in the Mailboxes table and you type the first few letters of a Mailbox then your focus will move to that mailbox or the closest match.

Many operating systems use similar methods including Windows.
