Hi Lynne, Firstly, you wrote in part:
LS>have not the slightest interest in doing so. LS>Not for discussion here; this is an Apple related group. <LS A modicum of clarification might be in order? If memory serves, a couple weeks ago you announced your intention not to create a separate list for discussion of IOS issues, hence such topics would remain appropriate for this list. I did not write privately to express my support for your decision as it was a done deal at the time of my perusal of the thread. indisputably, iCloud is now an integral part of IOS. More over, Apple explicitly supports the Windows platform as indicated by their release of the iCloud control panel and ITunes for Windows. It would therefore seem topical for someone who might not have the cash for a Mac (especially after buying an iPhone) to seek assistance with accessibility issues they may be experiencing when attempting to configure important IOS features such as "find my iPhone". If this is incorrect, perhaps you might reconsider your original decision? Personally I believe this would be an unfortunate development because it would be another list to follow, and many would no doubt continue posting their questions regarding IOS products here. I'm sorry if it was not sufficiently clear that my purpose for mentioning all browsers and platforms was to illustrate that I tried everything before posting my question. Working off Esther's post I am now able to remotely make my phone emit a noise and display a message using either MacOS or Mozilla Firefox. The key seemed to be going to icloud.com/find. The steps varied slightly from Esther's instructions, but her post contained more than enough information to get me started on the right path. I would post my Mozilla steps, but -- gasp -- would need to mention a Windows product, so I suppose anyone interested can write me privately. Secondly, you wrote: LS> Using Safari 5.1.1 I am able to navigate this using VoiceOver without difficulty. Using Lion 10.7.2 and Safari 5.1.1 I opened URL: http://www.icloud.com/find and filled in my credentials. Next I used the item chooser and pressed enter on the second instance of my iPhone. Next to that is an unlabeled button which I activated by pressing control-option-spaceBar. I then pressed vo-rightArrow a couple times and activated the "remote lock" button by pressing vo-spaceBar. In the resulting dialog, I am unable to locate the edit field to enter a passcode. I tried physically clicking the trackpad over the "info" button and passcode prompt. At one point I saw a prompt to reenter my passcode, but the lock button always remains dimmed. Thanks in advance to anyone who feels inclined to test in their environment. Best regards. Hello Geoff Firstly, I have not tested this under Windows and have not the slightest interest in doing so. Not for discussion here; this is an Apple related group. Using Safari 5.1.1 I am able to navigate this using VoiceOver without difficulty. There are some unlabelled buttons at the top left of the page but the same buttons exist further down the page and they are labelled. If you would like me to test under another OS with you, by all means take this off list and get back to me. I will then gladly assist in any way I can. I don't dispute what you're saying; please don't think that. I just want to find out why things are so very different for you. I've tried the latest webkit running under Lion 10.7.2 and all the latest available WinXP browsers (IE8, Mozilla7, and GoogleChrome14). In all instances my experience is pretty much as Bryan describes. I can not set the region to anything other than the default of US Pacific time. As you mentioned, the buttons are labeled, but I've not yet ascertained how to activate them. My first objective was to use the "find my IPhone" feature to make my new 4S emit a sound in the event that my golden ever decides to hide it. On the Mac side I navigated to the "find my iPhone" button, disabled trackpad commander, routed the mouse and verified that it was over the button and clicked the trackpad. This essentially killed voiceOver as it presumably could not deal with the resulting map?? When I finally got back to iCloud the page had not changed. It appears to show my iPhone, but there is no way to cause it to emit noise. I also tried everything including simulated mouse clicks on the windows side, but no joy so far. Google didn't appear to hold any easily findable solutions either. I hope I'm missing something, and perhaps you or someone can take a few moments to describe how to navigate the iCloud site via voiceOver? <--- Mac Access At Mac Access Dot Net ---> To reply to this post, please address your message to mac-access@mac-access.net You can find an archive of all messages posted to the Mac-Access forum at either the list's own dedicated web archive: <http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/mac-access/index.html> or at the public Mail Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-access@mac-access.net/>.
