Greetings all,

As reported last week, after attempting to update the software, my Apple-tv was
only emitting static through the toslink port. When I attached it to a tv I
was able to hear vo output and navigate the menus. When ever I attempted to
update or reset I got a message indicating that the update failed.

Yesterday Apple replaced it with a new one. I brought it home and attached it
to my stereo via toslink. Setup was proceeding normally, when it suddenly went
silent. I tried power cycling and attaching it to my tv, but got the same
result. I have now learned that when I plug in the Apple tv, two items appear
on the screen. There is a picture of an HDMI port, with an arrow pointing to a
musical note (or so that is how it was described). Pressing buttons on the
remote have no affect whatsoever.

I suspect its time for yet another trip to the Apple store, but I thought it
wouldn't hurt to ask if there is anything I can try here.

TIA for any suggestions and best regards.
Geoff
