Hi Sean and Margaret,

Sorry if I misinterpreted Margaret's question for a MacBook Pro user guide to
using Lion -- almost everyone asks about using VoiceOver and not the Lion
operating system functions irrespective of VoiceOver. The Vision Australia
links that I gave also discuss new features in Lion with VoiceOver. However,
if you want a guide to using the new features in Lion, I would get one of the
Take Control guides that you can purchase at 80% discount by contacting Lynne
or Gordon privately off list. Take a look at "Take Control of Using Lion":
http://www.takecontrolbooks.com/lion-using

They also recently announced the "Macworld Total Lion Superguide" and "Take
Control of iCloud" (for use with iOS devices), but I haven't any experience
with the Macworld Superguides.

Another source that has just been released (as of a few days ago) is David
Pogue's "Mac OS X Lion: The Missing Manual" by O'Reilly Press. And for new
users coming from Windows, there will be an upcoming edition of David Pogue's
"Switching to the Mac: The Missing Manual, Lion Edition", also from O"Reilly
Press, slated to be released in a month.

Generally, when asked for good manuals for the Mac, I'll recommend either the
Take Control Guides or the David Pogue Missing Manual series. They differ a
bit in their approaches, with the O'Reilly manuals being more in the way of
extensive reference manuals and the Take Control Guides giving a more concise
treatment that's easier to dip into. O'Reilly also publishes their works
without DRM, and provides multiple format versions of their books. The eBook
version is $27.99 and is currently available in ePub, Mobi, and PDF formats.
They've also been making their eBooks available in DAISY format, but that
version probably won't be ready for a few weeks. (The previous Missing Manual
for Snow Leopard is available in DAISY format.) These books also are available
on Bookshare, but you'd probably have to wait a few weeks. Also, when you
purchase from O'Reilly in ebook form, you get all minor updates for life, and
access to all available formats (DRM-free). Here's the link to
the web page for the David Pogue Missing Manual on Lion:

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
