Hi Paul, This is late reply, but I believe that you have Amadeus Pro, and that sound editing program allows you to set markers and split your audio files on the marker positions. A common use is to set markers where there is a silence interval of some minimal size, and then split at those locations. I haven't done this in quite a while, but I used this to split off songs in some cassette tapes that I digitized. You can also set the markers to be at fixed intervals, regardless of whether there is silence there, or adjust them before you split. So you could set this up to 10 minute intervals. There are probably dedicated mp3 splitter programs around, too.
I assume that simply making the MP3 files bookmarkable (by changing Media Kind from Music to Book, and checking "Remember playback position" on the Options tab when you select the tracks and do a Command-I for "Get Info" is not enough? If you transform the audiobook files into AAC format, then you can use programs like Audiobook Builder by Splasm ($5.99 in the App Store) or Audiobook Binder by Bluezbox Software (also in the App Store, freeware, with slightly less features I think) to create single, long audiobook files with chapter markers. The only drawback is if you want to use the same files in MP3 format -- perhaps because you also sometimes use them on an MP3 player. HTH.
