Hi Matthiew,
Don't know is these are short enough for you, but using the same combo as
you, once I read your message on my phone, with the Apple BT keyboard on, I
just pressed the left and right arrows to check I was in "quicknav" mode, then
I pressed control (second from the left in the bottom row) plus downarrow, this
took me to "compose" which I could use for a new message, or if I left arrow
from there, I get "reply", whereupon, I press both up and down arrows to
accept, press same again to choose a simply reply and voila!
So basically, ctrl plus down arrow for your short cuts.
