Command plus left and right arrows are short cuts for back and forward
through previously loaded pages..
Tab will move you through links and elements on a page. Shift tab will move
you back
It is worthwhile learning to navigate by other elements such as headers and
edit boxes as this makes using Safari much easier..
To read word by word interact with the text.
To have a word spelt press VO w twice. To have a word spelt phonetically
press vo w three time. Pressing VO W once will just say the current word.

If I really want to look closely at some text in safari I often just copy it
to Text Edit and review it there.

This is a bit of a challenge to select and copy text in Safari and many of
the methods people post do not work for me using Lion. but the 2 easy
methods I use is shift vo c to copy the last spoken phrase to the clipboard
and then paste that in Text edit. You can also easily select all with
command A and then command c and then command V to paste in a whole page
into text Edit.

Subject: Some safari quetions

Safari is my weakest link on the Mac. I can never quite accomplish what I
want. What is the difference between using the command+left and right arrows
to move through links and the tab and shift+tab? They obviously do something
different, but I'm not sure of the scoop.

Also, if I'm sitting on a link or some text, how can I get Safari to read it
word by word or character by character?

Thanks.
