Importance: Low

Hello Christo,

ABBYY sells a version of FineReader for the Mac. It is called ABBYY
FineReader Express and is fully VO accessible. I used it extensively this
past semester to OCR PDF files as well and scanned images. I've not tried
the built-in scan engine as I use VueScan to do my document scanning and
then use ABBYY to OCR the resulting images.

I haven't used ABBYY on Windows so I can't offer a comparison, but you can
download a limited 15 day trial version of FineReader Express for Mac at the
following link:
http://www.abbyy.com/finereader_for_mac/trial/

HTH,
Bryan
