i keep trying to set the choice to contact is available but every time i exit skype and relaunch skype, the choice i select in notifications is set back to announcing "you have signed in" like it is not saving my preferences properly. i have checked the box for speak text and that has saved so i am not sure what the problem is.

Yep that's the way to do it. Available is online, or I think
also away. I can't remember but I think availiable is online.

Take care.
