Correct. I don't like the internal speaker that much compared to the iPhone, which I believe has two, pretty darn good internal speakers. I still however like a bit of extra bass. This is down to my poor hearing, so choose to listen to music through my speaker dock.

Hi!

Going to buy an iPod touch next week so am wondering, what the quality of the
internal speaker is like?

I don't intend using this much but may have to use it in the course of using the
device with Voiceover<smile>.

Shame, I read in my local Mac computer column some time ago that Apple plans to gradually faze
out the iPod over time and this makes a certain amount of sense given that most customers
prefer their music on an iPhone these days according to Apple so I'm going to get a
"Touch" whilst the going's good<smile>.

I take it that using the "Touch" is pretty much like using an iPhone 4 without
the phone?
