Occasionally, I have reached up and muted the audio
while I typed a URL because that constant attempt to help drives
me bonkers. After typing the last character in the URL, I
usually unmute the sound so I can hear what sort of thing
happened when it is time to hit Enter

That one is new to me. I will have to try that and see if the
babbling stops.
By the way, I have understood autofill to mean the
filling in of your user name and password on web forms, not the
automatic attempt to help you complete what the system thinks
you meant to type.
