Besides handbrake, mac the ripper will also rip cds for you, and it will get everything at once, no need to pick and choose which tracks to get unless you want to. Then, if you grab dvd remaster, you can then take those ripped movies, and convert them to ipod playable versions. Mac the ripper is free, dvd remaster is not, but it's well worth the price (I paid for the pro version, but they do have a cheaper standard version), though I don't recall what the differences are. We've used it here several times to move movies to our ipods, and it works perfectly.
hth.
Mac the ripper can be had at version tracker, though I freely admit I'm having serious trouble getting it to show me *just* what I search for, it ha a nasty habbit of showing me over 100 results when I type in mac the ripper, so it seems version tracker has gone the microsoft/ google route, and shows me results it thinks I want instead of the ones I actually asked for, but for some silly reason, folks call that progress <sigh> go figure. Anyhow, it's there somewhere, so if you're more patient than I am, you can locate it.

and dvd remaster can be found at:

enjoy.
