Hello,
I use Apple mail with Gmail using imap protocol. This is so that I can share my
inbox and drafts folders between my iMac and iPhone. I review mail when away
from home using the iPhone. I delete most mail from the iPhone but if there is
anything which needs a more considered response I leave it in the iPhone inbox.
When I get back home my iMac then shows me only the mail which I kept in the
iPhone inbox.

This all works well except for one annoyance. Apple mail has a whole set of
extra mail boxes under the heading Gmail with names like important, all mail,
drafts, spam and so on. Unread items in these mail boxes contribute to the
total number of unread items which Apple mail reports as you tab into it. this
is confusing as these mail items have actually been read on the iMac or on the
iPhone or on both.

I would prefer Apple mail to not show these gmail mail boxes at all. Is there
any way in Apple mail or in gmail to get rid of them?

Many thanks.
