Hi William, I personally dislike landscape mode and use it only when an app forces it on me. But your opinion may differ. I think you'll be ok with getting your data onto the IPad once you sign up for ICloud on that device. I'm not sure how to get apps onto an IPad from ICloud, but if nothing else, you can always synch up to your mac or pc via ITunes, assuming you had your other Idevice backed up there and ITunes knows about your purchases and synch them up that way for the first time.
