Some times it depends on what you are compiling. First check for any dependencies At times, it may differ depending on what you are compiling. Usually there is an install file, or a read me file. Usually, if there is a configure script, you run ./configure, make, then make install. It may differ, depending on what source.

Hi everyone,

I'm very interested in learning how to compile from source code. Are there
specific instructions for each source, or is it generic? I believe I have
already installed the Developer Tools, but what else do I need to do on the
Command Line please?

Under Linux, I seem to remember something about "sudo make" and "sudo make
install", although I've not done this for a while, so i could be incorrect. I really like and
use the Command Line quite often, and would like to increase my knowledge.

Any advice/tips would be very much appreciated.

Thank you
TC :)
