Hello Ian, The Kindle app for iPhone is not accessible. If iBooks doesn't have what you want, you could try Kobo. The app is accessible on the iPhone, and you can read the books on the Mac with Adobe Digital Editions Preview which has been discussed recently on this list.
To look at what books are available from Kobo, go to: www.kobobooks.com There's a search box where you can enter a title or author, and the results are level 1 headings, so they're easy to look at with the Web Rotor.
