If you are trying to read any copy protected files from Audible you need to use
Audible Manager to initialise your device.
I had done this in the past with Zen Stones, Victor Reader Stream and Pocket
Plextalk. I imagine the book port i also supported. I have not done this
on Mac platform.

but Provided your device is in the list of Audible supported devices then after
this one step process you should be able to simply copy your audible files to
this device and they will play.
