Hi Eric,

That's very interesting about being able to use Google Drive. I think the
relevant property about the kind of outside network resources that you use, and
how it might impact your Mac Mini's Finder busy message, is what happens with
the file syncing and updating of information. With Dropbox, and also with
Google Drive, there are advanced menu options for controlling what you sync and
the syncing speeds for upload and download. I've never experimented with
these, but this basically establishes the amount of network bandwidth you might
be using with your various file operations. I suspect that this is what is
contributing to amount of Finder activity that you're seeing without a monitor.
In the meantime, you've provided a useful piece of information for other Mini
users who want to use a file transfer facility.

I'll give you a link to a recent Lifehacker article that compares Google Drive
and Dropbox, and describes the differences in syncing speed. There's also an
interesting comment about being able to use Google's OCR capabilities on
scanned document files. I'm not sure whether all the features that are
mentioned are accessible.

Hope you are otherwise enjoying your Mini.
