could someone explain what a thumb drive is?
i presume they are not the same as sd cards and that they don't
just fit in the slot on the macbook pro which is just above the
headphone socket.

Although actually, it may be that even that doesn't work. I
tried it and got errors. I think the image has to be the right
size, although I could be wrong on that score. All the same,
just buy yourself a thumb drive, you'll find things a whole lot
easier.
