Anything you download is in the downloads folder as well so look there and see if it is somethign you can copy to an external drive for back up or trash.
also look in ~/library/mail downloads and see if there's anything there that could go. Every time you quick look an attachment in mail it goes there. Also check ~/movies and ~/music and see if there's anything there you want to clear like old screen casts you did or drafts of songs you sang so you could remember how they go. All of this could fill up a hard drive. Also clear out your logs. someone will have to help you do that as I dunno how. Also what system are you running, as in snl there was a nasty bug where a log file of some type would grow huge with out stopping. Tc and be blessed.
