Here might be an idea, it is something I used to have to do with their main site back in 2010 when I started with them using the Tiger machine, not sure which version of Safari it was back then. Disable cursor tracking, then any element you deal with then route mouse cursor then fill or activate. Used to have to do that a lot, and doing it that way for some reason it was more stable for me than the mobile or facebook light site. Well saw a lot more content at least. So perhaps give that a try. I am not going to guarantee it will work, but if it does then that problem solved right? If it doesn't then you can kill me later *lol*.
