Same here. it's very much usable. I can do video if I really want to, host conferences and even call my phone when I loose it. lol! so to me the rewrite is not even remotely necessary. and you have to follow so many rules that skype puts on the api like not call it something for skype or not have the word skype in it that many projects have been abandoned due to a lot of restrictions to the debs.
but yeah get used to the interface. it's slick, smooth, easy to use and very very streamlined. Iv'e been using it for about a year and a half with no troubles at all.
