Hi Christopher Firstly, welcome to the group. The Take Control title are a series of books regarding Mac, iOS, iPhone/iPad as well as general tips on how to best use and maintain your Mac systems. They also cover things like running Windows on a Mac, but we won't go down that road just now as it is off topic for the group. :)
As for who publishes and sells them. They are published by TidBits publishing. The primary website is <http://www.takecontrolbooks.com> but we here at Mac Access Dot Net hav an agreement with the publishers whereby we can sell their books at an 80 percent discount to our group members. In view of the fact that the main catalogue has accessibility issues, Lynne, (my better half), put together an accessible version of the catalogue. The way this works is rally quite simple. If users buy directly from us, we create an accessible online bookshelf for them which stays there indefinitely. If they buy from our partner Travis Siegel at softcon.com then we don't create the bookshelf if we don't have any info regarding the purchased titles. I should also stress now that Mac Access Dot Net, (the group which runs this list), is absolutely and totally non-profit. What we do we do for the benefit of our clients and friends. I hope that clarifies things for you. Oh yes, and if you want to view the catalogue which Lynne put together, you can find it here: <http://www.mac-access.net/Take-Control.html> Gordon On 9 Nov 2012, at 12:10, Christopher-Mark Gilland <[email protected]> wrote: I am new to this list, so you'll have to please excuse me for asking... What exactly books are we talking about, and who exactly is it who's selling them?
