You wouldn't have had to update anything. They updated the accessibility of
the app store on the back end. Remember, the app store is all server sided,
so it doesn't require an update on our part for Apple to fix problems like
this. They can do so dynamicly on the back end, seemlessly.

Hi All
After hearing that the App Store had been down for a few hours, I
wondered
if Apple had been doing some work to fix the accessibility issues that us
iPad users had been experiencing. So, this morning, I thought I'd check
out
the app store on the iPad for myself and to my great surprise, the search
function is again usable with voiceover. I have an iPad 2 but I'm
guessing
that the app store should be the same for other iPads as well. I hope
this
news brings as much joy to other iPad users as to myself.
