Hi All, Here are a few iOS apps that are on sale over the Thanksgiving weekend. I won't bother repeating the deals that AppleVis has already listed (e.g., Posted for tracking deliveries $0.99 vs. $1.99 list, and IM+ Pro for messaging and chatting $2.99 vs. $9.99 list).
• Prizmo - Scanning, OCR, and Speech ($4.99, lists for $9.99) by Creaceed https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/prizmo-scanning-ocr-speech/id366791896?mt=8 • TextGrabber + Translator ($0.99, usually lists for around $2.99) by ABBYY https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/textgrabber-+-translator/id438475005?mt=8 • 1Password Pro ($9.99, lists for $14.99) by AgileBits (Universal version for both iPhone and iPad) https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/1password-pro/id319898689?mt=8 • 1Password for iPhone ($6.99, lists for $9.99) by AgileBits https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/1password-for-iphone/id285897618?mt=8 • 1Password for iPad ($6.99, lists for $9.99) by AgileBits https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/1password-for-ipad/id364747489?mt=8 • Paprika Recipe Manager for iPhone ($1.99, lists for $4.99) by Hindsight Labs LLC https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/paprika-recipe-manager-for/id406732590?mt=8 • Paprika Recipe Manager for iPad ($1.99, lists for $4.99) by Hindsight Labs LLC https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/paprika-recipe-manager-get/id392408028?mt=8 • Printer Pro ($1.99, lists for $6.99) by Readdle (this is their iPad version) https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/printer-pro/id393313223?mt=8 • Printer Pro Lite (free, try before buying Printer Pro) by Readdle (this is their iPad version) https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/printer-pro-lite/id399679167?mt=8 • Printer Pro for iPhone ($1.99, lists for $4.99) by Readdle (iPhone version) https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/printer-pro/id393313223?mt=8 • Printer Pro Lite (free, try before buying Printer Pro for iPhone) (iPhone version) https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/printer-pro-lite/id399679167?mt=8 Comments: Prizmo and TextGrabber are apps for OCR. Although using an OCR app has a learning curve for a VO user, it's doable. I'd recommend learning with Prizmo and using the Light Detector app. Both these apps support multiple languages. Prizmo is not frequently on sale, TextGrabber has gone down to $0.99 a number of times). 1Password has separate versions for iPhone and iPad unless you get 1Password Pro. This will probably go on sale again around Christmas time or New Year's. Paprika Recipe Manager has never gone on sale before in either the Mac or the iPhone/iPad app versions. Again, note that there are separate versions for the iPhone and iPad. If you only get one, I'd advise getting one of the iOS versions. Apart from an easy interface for entering recipes (with an extended row of keys above the regular virtual keyboard with special keys for measures and quantities, and another key that lets you switch between metric and English units), this has an easy shopping list function, so you can select recipes and put the ingredients on a shopping list. It supports finding and downloading recipes from a large range of (international) recipe sites, and can import recipe formats from most popular recipe manager programs (like MacGourmet). If there is nutrition information, this will be pulled into a separate category. It will also support scaling up recipe quantities. All entries are synced to a cloud account for each user. The developer is very responsive to feedback from VO users, and there are frequent updates. There are also User Guides with extensive descriptions of the features of this app at the developer's home page: • Paprika iPhone User Guide: http://www.paprikaapp.com/help/iphone/ • Paprika iPad User Guide: http://www.paprikaapp.com/help/ipad/ • Paprika Mac User Guide: http://www.paprikaapp.com/help/mac/ All of Readdle's apps are all on sale this weekend. You can use Printer Pro to print to any Printer connected to your Mac/PC, by using a downloadable desktop program that allows you to print to devices that are not immediately recognized as network printers. Try the free Lite versions first to test your setup. Printer Pro (for iPhone) is reviewed at Apple Vis. HTH.
