My guess is they installed OSX from scratch, and by default it hides hard
discs. Open your finder preferences and check to see if hard discs are
checked to be shown I believe when you first open that pane. That should
solve the issue for you.

Subject: New hard; drive what do I do?

My hard drive failed in my Mac Mini. I got it back today with a new hard
drive, but I have a couple of questions. The first is that when I go to the
desktop, I can't see the new hard drive. It usually says Macintosh HD, but I
can't see anything except my external hard drive. What can I do to be able
to see it?

I have a backup from before the old hard drive failed. I would like to
restore some of this data to the new hard drive. I have never done this
before. Can someone tell me how you restore data from a back up? I can't
figure it out.

Thank you very much in advance.
