Hello All,
I've been posting these iOS app deals over at AppleVis, but I thought I'd
mention a few of these here:
• ZoomContacts, an iPad app by Ai Squared to enlarge the text font of entries
in your Contacts, is free until the day after Christmas. It normally costs
$4.99. It's VoiceOver compatible, so you might consider installing it on the
iPad or iPad Mini of your older relatives, too. Here's the URL at the app store:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/zoomcontacts/id442917350?mt=8

• WhatsApp Messenger is also free for the holidays, WhatsApp Messenger is a
cross-platform smartphone messenger currently available for iPhone and all
other smartphones. The application uses push notifications to instantly get
messages from friends, colleagues and family. Switch from SMS to exchange
messages, pictures, audio notes and video messages from WhatsApp users at no
cost. It was offered free last year for the holidays, but normally lists for
$0,99. The app store URL is:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/whatsapp-messenger/id310633997?mt=8

• Prompt is an SSH client for iOS devices made by Panic, the same developers
who designed the Transmit FTP app for the Mac. It normally lists for $7,99,
but is on sale for $1.99 for a week. (I think I posted this on December 21st,
so the week starts from then). This is an app that might be of interest to sys
admins, and it is universal for all iOS devices. The app store URL is:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/prompt/id421507115?mt=8

There are other app deal entries, too, but these are the highlight. Also, list
members in the UK, European, and Canadian app stores, look for the 12 Days of
Christmas app. Over the 12 days starting December 26 to January 8, these App
Stores will offer some featured free content from Apple -- an app, movie, book,
song, etc. -- each day. The app will alert you to what the free offering is for
that day. (It's likely to be different for each country.). Not a U.S. App Store
feature, I'm afraid. I've posted about this in previous years for the UK and
Europe. I think this is the first year that Canadians will have this feature.
You don't need the app to get the free content, assuming that you know what to
look for on each particular day -- which might get posted on other
Apple-related sites specific to your country.
Here are the direct links to the app for Canada and Great Britain (in order).
I think these should also work for other participating countries (e.g., France,
Germany, etc.) but I can't check this, since I'm in the U.S.:
• 12 Days of Christmas 2012 app for selected App Store countries

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/itunes-12-days-of-christmas/id479672983?mt=8

Happy Holidays. Cheers,

Esther
