What anti virus program did you use. iv'e used clamxav with no issues what so 
ever. and I've been using it for about a  year now. Can you reboot in to the 
consul and see if anything is up?

See if you can hold down command r and start your mac, then after about 30 
seconds let go and start vo. Then go to the disk utility and hit continue. Next 
 Next choose your disk and hit the first aid tab then choose repair permissions 
and then scan for errors via the option called repair disk. if that does not 
work let us know and I"m sure someone will be able to suggest more 
troubleshooting steps.
