For extracting dvd content and putting it onto the hd, I use a
program called mac the ripper. It can do entire disks, or just the
tracks you want. It leaves them in vob format so you can use dvd
playing programs to view them from the hd, just as if they were still
on the dvd disk, only now they don't have the css protection on them,
so you can copy them anywhere you need them.
For extracting just the audio portions of dvd tracks, I use a program
called dvd remaster. This program isn't free, but it does allow you
to select just the audio tracks you want, (including the dvs audio
tracks) and will save them in the format of your choice, mp3, m4a,
aiff (not recomended) or any other format your mac supports. As I
recall, it was 30 bucks or so to register, though I got my copy some
time ago, so I could be mistaken on that.
In any case, you can find mac the ripper at:
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/14414/mactheripper
and dvd remaster can be found at:
http://www.metakine.com/products/dvdremaster/
And, it appears to be 19.95, not 29.95, so there ya go, cheaper than
I remembered. :)
hth.
