Hello Marcia, Sarah, Josh, and Others, I think there is a way you can custom configure the date and time format for your Mac, but it involves choosing one of the existing templates and copying a format rather than trying to select and configure individual elements. I played with this a long time ago -- about the time that Paul Hopewell first asked about configuring a time announcement that would use a 24 hour clock, and we looked at different AppleScripts. It turns out that the AppleScript strings that are returned when you query some variables depend on the format assigned by your region selection, so formatting arguments that worked for him, didn't work exactly for me, and vice versa. Anyway, my recollection is that I set up a custom region configuration that was based on first setting the region pop up button to another region (maybe "United Kingdom"), then I navigate to the "Times" section of the menu and pressed the "Customize" button. While I couldn't drag individual elements to create a customized forma t, I could select and copy an existing format. Then, when I navigated back to the pop up button, I created a custom format that was basically the U.S. template, but with the copied time format pasted in for the menu brought up with the "Customize" button.
This is all from memory. I don't really want to fiddle with this myself right now. HTH.
