Firstly, I really wonder whether this is helpful given that you don't use the 
software. . The question from Zack was whether anybody else is seeing the 
issue. So, let me try to answer it, as we are Bento users.

Zack, yes, the issue exists here but let me tell you what's going on visually 
while you're seeing the busy signals. Bento is searching for a valid library. 
It also contacts the server on every launch to see if your copy is registered 
or not. Then, software update comes into play. Bento does a pretty strange 
sequence of checking different servers to see if there's a software build later 
than yours. It seems to be the case that Bento is going into a loop when 
VoiceOver tris to interact with it. Whether this is Apple's fault or not, I 
don't know. However, I believe that Apple has shares in the Filemaker 
Corporation so it might be a good idea to contact them first. However, as a 
short-term work-around, Launch Bento with VO turned off and leave it for about 
30 seconds. You may then find it works. Not always, but most of the time when I 
have tried this it does seem to work.
