There's also nfbtrans which was ported to osx way back in 2005 or
2006. If you can't find a copy, drop a line, and I'll drop it on the
softcon pages if it's not there already. I don't think I ever posted
it there, but sometimes I surprise myself. :)
nfbtrans is the one I use, mostly because I'm a big fan of
opensource, and also because I like being able to modify things if
they don't do the trick for me. It's saved me loads of trouble more
than once.
Check out the softcon mac pages at
http://www.softcon.com/mac/
for all of the mac stuff I've ported from other oses.

You can use the free Louis translator in conjunction with an
Enabling embosser. Also, Index just released an application for
embossing on the Mac as well. None of these solutions are up to
Duxbury kind of standards, but you can definitely produce Braille
on the Mac if you desire.

Hi.
What experience do people have of hard copy braille translation
and embossers with the mac.
I have a client who currently is using Windows and is keen to
move to the mac, however one of her key requirements is that
she needs to produce grade 2 hard copy braille from fairly simple
word processed documents.
My thinking is that she could create the docs using either text
edit or pages, however then I need a translation program to
convert the text to grade to and ideally send it to an index
everest.
So, I guess another question is are people using the everest with
the mac, and if not, what embossers work well for people.
Thanks very much for any help and information on this one!
