Use XLD. I use that wonderful piece of programing and it works very very good. Try looking at http://download.com as I can't remember where I got it. I've been using it for 2 years now.
You can set it to convert to aiff if you don't feel comfortable with the mp3 settings. as some of the language choices he used were not all that clear for the codec. then use switch or amadeus to batch convert to mp3 of 192kbps or higher.
