Folks, Afraid I couldn't be bothered going back through list archives to resurrect the thread from some months ago on the Java preferences panel. At that time, people on list highlighted problems interacting with various of the tabs with VO so I filed (as I said I would) a bug with Apple. This, better late than ever, is their response:
