Folks,

Afraid I couldn't be bothered going back through list archives to resurrect the
thread from some months ago on the Java preferences panel. At that time,
people on list highlighted problems interacting with various of the tabs with
VO so I filed (as I said I would) a bug with Apple. This, better late than
ever, is their response:

Hello Donal,

This is a follow-up regarding regarding Bug ID# 12231362.

IMPORTANT: Please do not respond to this email. Please update your report
directly at http://bugreport.apple.com. Once your report has been updated,
engineering will be alerted of the new information.

Thanks very much for your feedback.

Engineering has provided the following information:

Oracle has end-of-life'd the Java SE 6 platform. Please try to reproduce this
issue with the Java 7 implementation available from Oracle at
<http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html>, and if
you find that it reproduces, please file the issue at <http://bugs.sun.com/>.

For general issues regarding VoiceOver with Java 7, please report those bugs to
Oracle.

We are now closing this bug report.

All the best,

Dónal
