Further to Chris's query I find that by Checking on my Mac it appears that the utility for un-ejecting removable drives is actually called Mountain and not Mounting as I thought. It places a menu in the Menu extras area accessible with Mountain Lion. The only time I used it so far it worked fine in retrieving a usb hard drive I had ejected by mistake. I think I had to interact with the menu though. It was not a simple question of cursoring down.
I am fairly certain this was freeware so could possibly sendspace it for you if you want. I am not sure I HAVE THE original disk image. Would posting the app file work on other Macs? For some reason I cannot find the relevant link on Google any more.
