on the iPhone, each reminder has two entries. The first is the reminder
which you can double tap and edit, and the second, jjust below it is a check
box with the same name as the reminder itself. To mark a reminder as
completed, double tap the checkbox. If you don't want to keep the completed
reminder in the completed list, you can delete it by flicking down on the
reminder name (the upper entry) and tap delete from that action menu.
