Hi Chris,

I am no expert re selecting text etc, and i should tell you that of all the
VO gestures, selecting text is the least well thought out. It seems to vary
depending upon where you are re apps etc, so you can never be quite sure. The
easiest way to deal with selecting text is to use a separate keyboard, upon
which, there are various key commands to help you do this.

Now, I shall try to assist re the pinch gesture, but others will probably
do better! Your first mistake is to use more than 2 digits. This pinch gesture
will only work with 2 fingers or thumbs. All of us do this differently, I
selected the following from your message by using my 2 index fingers, sliding
them apart across the screen, having first chosen lines in the rotor. I don't
think it matters if you are in landscape or portrait, i have mine set to
portrait/locked. But withever way you have your phone, you must slide your
fingers as if in line with the text, so, if in portrait mode, slide them across
the narrow axis of the screen.

A tip I learned from David, on this list, was to sort of hit the screen
running. That is, rather than place your fingers on the screen and then slide
them apart, start from just above the screen, so they touch the screen as you
lower them and slide them apart at the same time. I sort of feel like a
conductor, making two U shapes with my 2 index fingers.

possibly, I have made this even more incomprehensible to you, but at least
one thing should be clear, use only 2 digits.

Here is my selected/copied text from your message.

OK, a lot of you have told me that you can do a penching gesture to select and
unselect text if I need to copy something
Sandy.
