Not sure I'm fully understanding your set up, but the important thing is to
have your iTunes library point to the accurate location of the music folder,
so if you have moved it, you will need to tell iTunes where to look. You can
do this I think, under the advanced settings in options, or it might be
preferences -

Subject: iTunes media external drive
okay guys. I'm past frustrated here. i was able to get my iTunes library
with all my media put to my external drive. and now here is my problem. as
soon as i unplug my drive from the mac, then reconnect it. all the media
becomes invalid. all of the media is on the drive, i imported from the
drive, into iTunes, and my iTunes folder is on the drive. yet all my music
says invalid location. what the heck do i do… this is becoming so
frustrating for me. because i never have these issues…
