No trhe dash board has several what they call widgets. such as weather, package tracking and so forth. I use the world clock as i have family over seas, but I disabled all tha rand the dash board remains in my doc for easier use should I need it.
You will not loose access to the calculator as the calculator is another app in the apps cmd shift a folder in the finder.
