Hi Andy, Does this happen every time you close/open the lid, or is it random? I've experienced this behavior on every mac I've owned but only if I've neglected to fully restart the OS or power off/on the computer once every day or so. It has been my experience that repeatedly sleeping/waking the Mac (or pretty much any computing device) will eventually lead to flaky behavior and that a quick restart every day or so halps to clean out the cobwebs, so to speak. Whenever I encounter the issue of VO being silent upon wakeup, I take it as an indication something is about to get flaky and I hold down the command key while pressing F5 five times in quick succession to get VO talking again, save any open work, close all running Apps, and then restart the Mac.
